Our client is looking for a Lead Data Scientist who will assist in building, shaping and running the company’s global Advanced Analytics practice. Besides Technical Leadership, duties and responsibilities include Predictive Modeling using SPSS Modeler & Watson Analytics; Test/Learn Analytics; Data Munging, Evaluation and recommendation of  tools to architect a global reporting and analytics engine, e.g., R, Python, Spark, Hadoop, Qlik, Tableau, etc.
The Director of BI & Data Management will be in charge of running the business and stakeholder management side, while the Lead Data Scientist will run it from the technical side, setting the vision, strategy and direction for how they build the practice going forward over the next 3-5 years.
The ideal candidate has been the most senior Data Scientist at their previous employer and must be able to demonstrate technical and strategic leadership in relation to Advanced Analytics practice.
This is a full-time employee opportunity in Danbury, CT.

Skills and Qualifications
•       Master’s degree, PhD preferred in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Econometrics, or related fields
•       Five years of relevant experience and strong knowledge in at least one of the following fields: statistics, data mining, machine learning, statistics, operations research, econometrics, natural language processing, and/or information retrieval
•       Minimum 3 years’ experience of statistical and predictive modeling required using SPSS Modeler or similar tools
•       Minimum 2 years’ experience required using IBM Watson Analytics or similar tools
•       Strong analytical and conceptual skills, with proven ability to translate business problems into analytical specifications and requirements
•       Deep experience in extracting, cleaning, preparing, and modeling data; command-line scripting, data structures, and algorithms; and working in a Windows environment
•       Proficiency with programming languages (e.g. Python, Ruby, Java, Scala) desirable
•       Strong project management, planning and leadership skills
•       Excellent communication skills with ability to present and discuss technical information in laymen’s terms
